Save the Date: Fall 2011 CCCAOE Conference

Summer is finally winding down, and we’re gearing up for the fall and the 2011-12 school year. I know some of you have already begun the fall semester and hope your first days rolled out well. We know how busy this time of year can be, so you may wonder why we’re bringing up something that’s still a couple months away, but…well, we know how busy this time of year can be. We want to make sure you mark your calendars and save the date for the Fall 2011 California Community College Association for Occupational Education (CCCAOE) Conference, taking place October 19th – 21st in San Diego, CA.

The Fall 2011 CCCAOE Conference is especially relevant for CTE Pathways Initiative grantees, as it will offer several opportunities for you to connect with and learn from one another. The pre-conference session, taking place on the morning of October 19th, focuses on the Future of the CTE Pathways Initiative, with specific consideration for how administrators support CTE efforts; strategies for leveraging multiple sources of funding; how to build meaningful and lasting collaborative relationships with a wide range of K-12, industry, and other partners; and how to plan for sustainability. In addition, participants will learn about a wide range of SB70 grantees such as Statewide Pathways, Hubs, Teacher Preparation Pipeline, Young Entrepreneurs Program, Community Collaborative, among others.

The main conference will also feature five SB70-related breakout sessions: 1) How to Engage K-12 Schools and Students in CTE; 2) Focusing on Sustainability; 3) CTE Sectors: Focus on the Healthcare Industry; 4) Faculty Externships; 5) Professional Development. Each session will highlight different SB70 grantees implementing various CTE programs and activities across California, and provide opportunities for you to meet and speak with others who are working in your fields of interest and/or addressing similar challenges to those you may be confronting in your own programs.

The CCCAOE Conferences are highly regarded in the CTE community and receive strong, positive reviews from attendees. It’s a wonderful resource and networking opportunity, and we hope to see you there!
